This fall, I made my first quilt. My dear friend Rachel (the one that takes all those amazing pictures of my family) had a baby girl in November and I had to do something special. It was the perfect opportunity to try my hand at quilting, something I've been dying to try. If this first experience is any indication, I can tell I will be doing this for the rest of my life! I really loved it.
Here are some pictures:
It was a labor of love with just enough mistakes and re-dos to help me learn. I loved the finished product and felt like I wanted to keep it all to myself. But giving it to Rachel was easy enough, I knew she would really appreciate it and treat it with love. When I gave it to her, she was so happy with how it turned out. :) Mission accomplished!
I already have two more quilts in mind and can't wait to continue. I may never do clothes or Halloween costumes again with how fun this has been.
A special thanks has to go out to my SIL Amy for helping me with at least 18,000 quilting questions over the phone. She is a much more accomplished quilter and kept me going. Also to Amanda Jean from Crazy Mom Quilts for putting out the tutorial I followed--I appreciate it when geniuses inspire and encourage the rest of us!
