Brooke Update

So I finally saw Brooke again today. It's been too long! She was at church because all the contestants had the weekend off in honor of Easter. She also brought David Archuletta and I met him too!

Brooke is doing well. She says they are extremely busy, jumping through more hoops than the American public realizes. They have only a few hours a day to practice. Even though the judges talk so much about song choice, their songs are often not approved. Sometimes they're singing songs that were their 3rd or 4th choice. Yuck!

She remains optimistic, though not arrogant, about going far in the competition. She says she just focuses on one week at a time and doing all she can to make it as good as she can. She seems happy, although tired, and really enjoyed the time off. Her and Dave got to shop for groceries and go out to dinner, just like normal life for a change.

Brooke was also a good friend and asked about Rebekah and how she's doing. I told her about the two new teeth coming up and how she'll be getting her six-month pictures this week.

Anyway, all you fans and semi-fans. She's doing good and always says thanks for the support. Another mutual friend put "The top 12 reasons to vote for Brooke" on her blog, and I'll add them below:

1) Her awesome voice. She has such a cool and unique voice and it is so nice to see some variety on American Idol this year.
2) She writes music! Who writes their own music these days, well Brooke does. She is a very talented writer and has written some great songs.
3) She knows who she is as a singer. She knows what suits her and fits her unique voice and runs with it.
4) She knows who she is as a person. She sticks by what she believes in but doesn’t bang people over the head with it.
5) She plays instruments, she plays the piano and the guitar and even the harmonica.
6) She plays most of the time by ear! It is so fun to watch her hear a song and then figure it out on the piano. She has had some piano and guitar lessons but she has an amazing ability to hear something then translate it into music very quickly.
7) Her stage presence. When she is singing on stage she looks like she belongs there, like she was born to do it.
8) Her hunky husband (as quoted by the LA times). Dave is such a great guy too, he is her biggest fan and does so much to support her.
9) She is a great role model.
10) She is one of the nicest people you have ever met. She would always do whatever she could to help others.
11) She is a great friend.
12) She is talented, humble, gracious, kind, thoughtful and an all around wonderful person and that is shinning through beautifully.
