I Hate City Noise

I need to vent.

The baby is supposed to be down for a nap. She is very tired, but she doesn't want to sleep, so she's just crying away in there. I've done my best to make the room conducive to sleep, but I can't block out the city. There's traffic on the street, some of it playing stupid, loud mariachi music. Is that even music?! Some yahoo is honking his horn. Is there a legit reason for this? Probably not. Why bother getting out of a car and knocking on a door when the horn is, like, 6 inches away. It's just as effective, right? Right?! Silly "Clown Lady" is pushing her cart of sub-standard treats and goodies. She's honking a bike horn for all the neighborhood to hear "Hey, I have non-carcinogenic delicacies!" It's like the ghetto-version of the Ice Cream Truck. (Maybe I'll get a picture of her.) The people downstairs moved out, so there are construction workers down there fixing up the place. I hear hammering and saws and drills and, and ... what is that? A jackhammer? Are they purposely and maliciously scraping the ceiling just to make more chaos? Should I keep an eye out for nails coming through the kitchen floor? How do these floors support the weight of people and objects and yet allow so much noise through? How is a tired mom expected to put her tired baby down for a nap in such a noisy place?

Bleh.

I feel your pain! We thought we'd be getting away from such noise when we moved into our house, but then it was the constant noise of construction (we were one of the first to move in). Now I have a 4-year-old with very little concept of being quiet when the baby is sleeping. I guess there's always something conspiring against you when it comes to naptime... Hang in there!

Well boy-howdie. You sure do know how to make someone excited about moving to So. Cal! Aurg! What am I going to do in a city?!? This may not be good.....

It's called "Ranchero" music and no, it is not real music. It's been said before, "Between those who listen to ranchero music and those who don't, one country has a space program and the other has a rocket shaped like a donkey."

My neighborhood is the exact same way. It's not that I mind being the minority, but it sure is tough when the majority is obnoxious!! I might sound racist at this point, however, I don't classify an entire race as obnoxious, only those who have proven themselves to be such.

I hope things get better soon!

Oh dear! I wish I could relate to the noise factor... the best I can do is complain about my neighbors... they are building a house on the lot next to mine and the workers begin promptly at 6:05 am every day!!! AHHHH! Aren't there laws against that? It's not even light outside! Also, my 2 year old is the culprit of nap-thwarting many times. I have found her in the basinette with the baby on many occasions... is that ok?! I think not... Anyway, hang in there...kids get to a point where they don't care what noise is around them, they'll sleep anyway. And don't forget... "this too shall pass" :)
