I figured I'd give you a tour of the house, just like I would if you came over. Then you can really understand how great it is. Now, pretend you've driven through the ghetto, parked on the dimly-lit street, walked up three flights of stairs, and walked into our door. This is what you would see:
On the wall to your immediate right, we have the TV and this lovely bookcase:

Turning to your left, on the main wall, is the focal point* and color inspiration for the whole room:

Keep turning to the left and you'll see the table and a peek at the porch:

If you looked closer at the table area, you'd see:

Keep turning to the left, past the hallway (nothing interesting there!) and there is my desk:

And the final view of the whole office area and hutch:

If you came over during the day, the only real difference (besides better lighting for taking pictures!) would be a glimpse of some sweet flowers on the porch:

...and a more stunning view of the fabulous painting:

Don't you just want to come over and enjoy all the loveliness?! I feel so blessed. This redecorating has made me feel more at peace with the fact that we can't have a house right now--if I can't have something better, I can at least make our current place as pleasing as possible. It's motivated me to keep everything cleaner which makes me feel calm and content. All that from rearranging furniture and thrift store accessories!
Once again, thank you Holly for the inspiration and support. Next time, we'll tackle the bedrooms!
*The painting was done by Tamara, a dear friend from the college days. She is an artist and painted this while we were in school. A few years ago, she decided she couldn't stand looking at it anymore, so I got it. I'm so glad I could feature it in our front room because it's really special.

I love to move furniture around. It always makes me feel better. You have done a good job on your decor.
Lovely!
Whoa. Wow. I'm speechless! I would NEVER have guessed that was even the same apartment!!! VERY NICE WORK, all of you. I love that feeling of making something "new" and being able to enjoy it even more!
Linds, I adore it. Good work!! Must make you so happy to walk in the door each day!
Sweet! seems you've established a place of peace and tranquility. job well done!
FABULOUS! I love it! That hutch looks new to me...it probably isn't. So beautiful!
Uh-huh, "inspiration" and "support" don't make you sweat and give you sore muscles. Really though, I am glad you are so happy with it! I knew if you would just work with me that you would love my plan, but next time don't fight me on EVERY. SINGLE. POINT. I just don't know if I have the energy to makeover more of your space if you are going to resist my fabulous ideas again :)
Let's make a deal: when I come back to do your bedroom, you just go with the flow and trust me and I will promise not to have a mental break again. Deal?
Um, also I noticed that the wall space where Malcom's diploma is seems to be missing a couple items...it is looking pretty bare missy.
Love it! It always feels better to have room for everything and everything in it's place. Have a great Thanksgiving! Missing you all! LUL
