Sick and Tired

Rebekah started acting funny on Friday; very fussy and needy in the evening. On Saturday, Malcom's birthday, she was totally crazy all day. She would be happy for a bit, then cry and fuss for no reason. It was accompanied by lots of drool and snot (sorry), so at least I was able to realize early what it was: a good, old-fashioned Summer cold.

I tried to accommodate her the best I could while still preserving Malcom's right to sleep in, relax, and do only happy things on his birthday. I think I did a pretty good job, but I did ask him to help for a little while. Bekah really loves her daddy, so playing with him helped keep the fussies away.

For church, we only attempted the first hour. At least we'd be in pews and she couldn't infect too many others that way. I got to be there for the speakers and the sacrament, then I brought her home to keep her from making others miserable with her attitude, or sick with her germs, or both. Especially with all the pregnant ladies around, I had to be careful.

Once at home, I let her go around half naked and climb around on pillows in the front room for a while; random, I know, but she was really enjoying rolling around on them, so I let her do it as long as she was entertained. She took her normal two naps, but stirred and fussed more than normal.

We had some friends over to help us finish off Malcom's birthday cake during her second nap; 90 minutes of normalcy before she woke up and it was all attention focused on Bekah again. She had a pretty good evening and went to sleep well, so overall it was a successful day.

Of course, now I'm feeling it... a scratch in my throat, excessively runny nose, and stuffy head. Well, it's to be expected. Even with her fussiness, drool, and runny nose, I can't keep away from that cute girl! I've still kissed her and hugged her just as often as normal during the last 24 hours, so I guess I deserve it! I'll be living on tylenol cold meds and airborne for a few days and I'll be mere inches from a box of kleenex. This SHOULD put me to bed early, but I really couldn't miss the closing ceremonies. Tired, but I can't quite fall asleep on this comfy couch when there is such a spectacle to behold.

I don't like being sick, or having sick kids. I told Ky about two or three times to call Malcom and tell him happy birthday, but I don't think that he ever did. Happy Birthday Malcom I hope it was a good one.

My comment never showed up! I really did comment. I can't believe how long Becca's hair is now. Pig tails are so cute on her. I can't wait until November to see you all again :) Take care!
