A Week in My Life--FRIDAY

(As typed on Saturday morning because I was too tired last night!)

Today was better because I didn't feel nearly as sick or tired all day. I went to school in a good mood, knowing I'd only be there until 12:30 because it was a half day. I thought about how much I'd get read in my book when I realized I HAD FORGOTTEN MY BOOK!! I was really mad at myself!

At least I had the teacher's stash of licorice to help me feel better.

A little-known fact about teachers, but I'd say nearly 90% of them have candy in their classrooms at all times. I know it's in the guise of giving candy to kids for whatever reason, but the truth is that teachers like candy! They also like alcohol (sooooo many teachers drink like crazy) but since that isn't allowed on campus, they have to settle for candy. In any case, I can always find the candy, and I almost always sample it. If the teacher is a friend of mine, like this one is, I definitely help myself!

So instead of reading, I read blogs and such. I went through my usual list, then went to some quilting blogs for inspiration. I love quilting and I'm in a quilting bee this year. I get to send out supplies and materials in November and people will send back finished blocks for me. Yay! So I have to decide what I want from this and I keep finding new ideas that I love.

I also looked at baby name sites. We had previously agreed on Jackson for a boy and Kate for a girl, but Malcom is not loving Kate as much as he used to and I'm not loving Jackson as much as I used to. Grrrr! So I am TRYING to remain open-minded and I did some searching. I found out that I have a really hard time with boy names; I couldn't find any that I absolutely love. I came up with Joshua, Miles, Edward (not because of the vampire, promise!), Austin, Noah, Simon, Andrew, and James. Blah. For girls, though, there were so many that I loved! I wrote down Lydia, Julia, Sydney, McKenna, Juliet, Elizabeth, Tara, Natalie, Fiona, Molly, Gillian, and Emma. So cute, right?! I bet Malcom will veto every one of them and I'll be back to the drawing board again!

It was a beautiful day and I couldn't resist going outside during the break. The class I was in is right next to the "agricultural area" where the school has a small field for growing plants and a sweet pond for some turtles (the school's mascot). So I took some pictures:

I especially love the jasmine because you can smell it as you walk past. Mmmmmm!

After school let out, I got Bekah and headed home. I put her down for a late nap, but she didn't cooperate. She talked/played the entire time. I really hate it when that happens, but what are ya gonna do?! I let her stay in there for 90 minutes or so while I watched some TV instead of doing chores (a running theme in my week, I know!).

Malcom got home and we were hanging out for a bit. Malcom took a nap, Bekah and I ran around playing, then we had some dinner. We had fabulous plans to go to a carnival, but it wasn't ready yet. :( I had seen them setting up all week and I thought for sure it would be ready by Friday, but it wasn't. Maybe Saturday? But I was disappointed after looking forward to it all week, so Malcom took us to the mall instead.

We headed north to our favorite mall--good shops, lots of food, and a great play area. We stopped at my favorite pretzel place (Auntie Anne's) for a bite to eat.

Then it was Bekah's turn to run around. I had a lot of fun just watching her because she was so happy. She was really cute. Love that girl! We couldn't stay long because it was well past her bedtime and she hadn't even napped, so we left after that. It was worth the trip because we got to get out of the house together. That's always a treat.

We got home and put her to bed (skipping the bath this time, there's always tomorrow!) and setttled down on the couch to veg. I should have been cleaning because this mess was all around me:

But I didn't clean. It's Friday night and I just don't want to spend my time doing something I should, only doing something I enjoy! Plus, Saturdays were made for chores, right?!

Well I'm SO GLAD you didn't clean on a Friday night. Bummer about the carnival, but it sounds like a fun time anyway!

Isn't it funny how your list of baby names totally changes for each kid? At least that's how it was for me.

I love love LOVE the name Molly!! If I didn't think having a Molly and a Holly in the same family (core, not extended) would be kinda cheesy then we would be seriously considering it. I vote for Molly if it's a girl!

And hurrah for mall pretzels: the pregnant woman's salvation! When you come visit let's make a point of getting some (several).

Sounds like a (nearly) perfect day to me! Too bad the carnival idea caved...maybe soon, right?

And names...I SO would've named Carson Edward, to keep with the older-sounding 'e' themed names, but a)he didn't 'feel' like and Edward, and b)Twilight was WAY to freshly out.

Being in Primary again, I get to hear kids names again. We have no kidding 5 Jacksons (or Jaxsons). We have a Molly, cute as a button. Gillian (though spelled Jillian) was on the top of my list, along with Joshua.

My big hang up is I didn't want to have the same names as anyone in the family, as in the entire Sanders/Gale families. So that takes out like 200 names right there. Edward is Mason's middle name, so of course I like that one. Only, I like Edward, not Ed or Eddy.

The best place for baby names: The baby name survey book. I loved it, it has what peoples perceptions of the names are. I think they have a revised addition now. Love Juliet! No one uses that anymore
