Job Searching

It's official, I'm done with teaching (at least for now).  I put in my resignation paperwork last week. I am excited to be staying at home next year instead of going to work and missing my Bekah the whole time.

There are a few things that need to be in place for this to be successful.  Since my job carried the benefits, we don't have medical insurance after July. Malcom has been looking for a new, improved job for about two months with this goal in mind. His current job might also be able to offer benefits once they know how serious he is about leaving. He has been submitting many resumes and has perfected his demo reel as well.

The other thing that's critical is getting an apartment managing position for me. A few of our friends have done this and it sounds like the perfect gig. I will be a resident manager and deal with apartment issues all from HOME.  I'll get to be with Bekah like a stay-at-home mom, but the job will pay for our rent. This will alleviate strain on Malcom to get a super-high-paying job right away. I submitted my resume to six places last month, and I'll be sending it to four more tomorrow.

While this may sound like a sticky situation, I feel very little stress or anxiety about it.  I'm excited to move on with this next phase of our lives and I feel confident that our prayers will be answered. They always have been in the past.

Please keep us in your prayers.  We'll be sure to post updates as soon as everything comes through.

Lindsey, hats off to your choice to stay home. I worked for a while after my first, then stayed at home. Then I went back to work for about 10 months, and just could not be away from my babies. It is so hard financially, but the Lord does provide. We are always given what we need, maybe not always what we "want" lol. It is scarey, just have faith.

I don't think you will ever regret the choice to stay home. Becka will only be little for a short time. Enjoy all that you can:) It sounds like you have thought this through very well and Apartment supervisor could be ideal for you. Good luck, you're in our prayers.

I have complete confidence that you will find what you are looking for. You are making a great sacrifice to stay home with Becka, one that very few women make nowadays. Father in Heaven will bless you guys for this, I know it. We have had our struggles (and always are) but staying home with David brought about an amazing job that Tyler got with awesome benefits, and then we had some money problems where I probably needed to work, but we pushed through and now he was offered more money to work for Mediserve. So we are proof Father in Heaven will bless you. Sometimes though, it doesn't come exactly as we are expecting or at the exact time. Thats a bummer.
Apartment managing is really a cool gig. I also have friends who have done it and everyone says it is awesome and worth the time. Won't you get a break on rent too if you live there? I'm sure someone will hire you on because you are an educated experienced teacher. Anyone would want that.

Let us know if you need a reference, since we did that apartment managing gig for almost 2 years. It was worth it to get Jared through undergrad and now I wish we still had it so I could stay home. Oh well, you gotta do what you gotta do, right?
