I have been called to be Compassionate Service Leader at church. OH. MY. GOSH. I had asked to be released from Young Womens a few months ago. I've been in that calling for over 5 years and I'm feeling burned out. I've taught some of those lessons twice already and I'm feeling like I have only old ideas and little enthusiasm to offer.
Of course, as soon as I got my way, I was sad. I'm really going to miss those girls. However, I'll see them around a lot, and I know they won't forget me. :)
Looking forward now, what the heck am I supposed to do as Compassionate Service Leader?! I asked Bishop to read me the actual definition/description from the church handbook because I really have no clue. It turns out that it's a pretty nebulous calling without a lot of guidelines. I'll help people during deaths and new babies, moves, and generally serve their needs in times of. . . well. . . need. I'd like to think of myself as the personal assistant to the Relief Society President, her go-to-gal when it comes to helping anyone who needs it.
Of course, I know that Heavenly Father will help me understand what I need to do. That's the way it always is; He asks us to do something out of our comfort zone, then shows us the way. I know I'm in good hands, even if I can't see the end from the beginning.
Any words of wisdom? Advice? Warnings?! I'm listening.

Way to go! Sounds like an exciting calling...think of all the people you'll get to know and help and serve! I'm sure you'll do wonderful...be full of compassion and just listen to their needs! (And that's the extent of my advice!
This seems like something you're ALREADY really good at, so I don't see why you're so nervous??? :D So my advice? Be you!
Horray for change!
You will be amazing. Its a calling where you follow your heart and there are no wrong answers.
My mother in law had that calling for a while. It's the one who coordinates all the dinners and meals for the funerals, new babies etc. and if they need anything else like clothing, service, etc. The RS Pres might find out a need, but it will be your duty to see it happen to fill that need. Pretty big calling, but you'll do great.
Ah, you'll do great. I have faith in you!
Keep you phone handy and an extra casserole in the freezer! (jk)
I'm sure you'll be wonderful, keep in touch with the RS pres and in tune with the spirit.
