Of course, Simple Mom also has a list of reflection questions for making New Years resolutions and goals. I'll post my responses, but if you're looking for a nudge in the right direction, you should do it too! In fact, I TAG you to go get Simple Mom's 20 questions, pick out a few that mean something to you, and post your answers.
1. What is one skill you already have that you’d like to improve this year?
I'll continue working on my sewing stuff. I hope to attempt new projects and learn new techniques. I'll also keep up my running; I plan to run a 5K in better time than December, and a 10K in the Fall.
2. Think of one of your major life goals. What will you do this year to make you one step closer to reaching that goal?
One of my major life goals is becoming Christ like. I will learn to be more like Him by making a concentrated effort to read my scriptures every day and really STUDY them. I know I can read 15 minutes a day because I do it all the time with other books, so it should work just fine.
3. What is one of your weaknesses? Brainstorm some ideas on how you can overcome this deficiency.
I fall back on my eating and weight-loss goals all the time. I really want to make healthy eating a lifestyle, not a diet that I slip in and out of. I have decided that one way to get better is eating more fresh fruits and vegetables which will help me feel fuller without consuming more calories, and help me get more nutrients.
4. Name a few ways your family’s financial health could be improved.
I could always budget better and keep closer track of our spending habits. I need to look at trends in our spending and see what we can improve. I want to find a good budgeting program that will help.
5. What is one area of home management that frustrates you? Think of some specific ways you could improve your attitude about it.
I have a clutter problem and I'm GOING to fix it! My biggest issue is that I don't have a place for everything. I really feel that if I just had a place for everything, I'd be set. If it doesn't have a place, I probably don't need it as much as I think I do.
6. Name one specific thing you could do with your spouse this year that will deepen your intimacy.
We have a goal to attend the Temple 7 times this year. I know it should be 12, but I want to make a goal that is attainable yet challenging, so this is what we're starting with. I know it will bring us closer together.
7. In what ways will you be involved with your local community?
I plan on getting involved in some non-church-related volunteer events, either one-time things or ongoing projects.
8. What is one thing you’d like to accomplish by your birthday this year?
Buying a house (condo) and getting it all set up and beautiful.
