Holidays

It's been a great few weeks here in Arizona. We'll be heading back to LA on Monday, so we've still got a few days left to enjoy the people here.

Christmas was great. We did the traditional family get-together on Christmas Eve with lots of food, reading the story of Baby Jesus from Luke 2, singing carols, and opening ONE present. We all got to sleep in on Christmas morning because Bekah gave us the best Christmas present of all--sleeping in until 10am!! We opened presents which we all really enjoyed. I was very happy to ask Malcom to surprise me this year and he did a great job shopping without a specific list. It made me feel like he really CHOSE presents for me, not just bought them.

The rest of our time has been spent on complete rest and relaxation. I have slept a lot and lounged around in my PJ's until late in the day. My mom has watched Rebekah almost every day so that I could go out with friends or see a movie with Malcom. Her generosity with her time has been a wonderful gift. What a great mom I have!

Malcom has enjoyed his down time as well, sleeping in and playing a lot of video games. He doesn't get to do that except between semesters at school, so I usually encourage his time with the XBox. We've watched quite a lot of football too and Malcom's had fun with that.

Bekah has gotten to spend a lot of time with family. She has a great time running around a house that's three times the size of our apartment and has so many interesting things to get into. Everyone thinks she is so cute and we're never at a loss for someone who wants to hold her when she wants to be held.

For New years, we had dinner with friends and went bowling for three hours. It was so much fun! I'm always surprised at how much I like bowling--I only go once a year and I don't ever get above 80. I don't usually persist in games I don't win, but bowling is just good fun!

Of course, I took a few pictures of all this frivolous living, but I forgot to bring the USB cable to get pics to the laptop, so those will come later. Until then, I'm happily wasting away the afternoon blogging and trying not to think about the laundry and packing that has to happen before we leave. I really hope all your holidays and vacation days went just as well.
