Wish me luck

I've decided to wean Bekah off the pacifier. My doctor says it isn't necessary until after two years old, but I need to do it now. She wakes up in the middle of the night and fusses because she can't find the pacifier in her crib in the dark and can't go back to sleep for a while. I almost always give in and go in there to put the plug back in her mouth. Sometimes, she does this at 6:45 in the morning--too late to replace it and expect her to go back to sleep, but too early for me to wake up.

I'm a little worried that she'll be upset and unable to take a nap or fall asleep easily for a few days until she gets the hang of it. But better to do it while she's not at Daina's house for babysitting than expect her to train Bekah.

Anyway, after listening to President Monson's talk this weekend, I know this is a very small thing to be worried about. I'm just grateful to have a beautiful, healthy daughter despite a few days of fussiness.

Well, the best thing about not ever having kids take a pacifier is that you don't have to wean them off of it. Same as bottles. So I can't be much help with advice how!

I've been thinking of getting Lizzie down to just bed/nap time, so I'm on my way to your weaning level. Good luck...and if you find any hints, let me know!

My kids were very attached to their pacifiers. They had them all taken away at 18 months. If you can handle it, I say make her quit cold turkey. You WILL go through some REALLY BAD days, but she will soon forget about the pacifier and you will be done. I know it sounds mean, but it worked every time with my kids.
