Tonight we had our typical Friday night dinner, pizza. When it was ready, I tried to think through whose turn it was to eat first. Usually, Bekah's already eaten and we haven't. But she likes to paw at anyone with food to beg for scraps (yes, even though she was already fed) or just for attention. So we eat in shifts.
But tonight I had an idea. Bekah's been so enthralled with her video lately, surely I could try it now, even though evening is typically her fussiest time. I told Malcom that he had never seen such concentration out of Bekah as when she watches Baby Einstein, Baby Beethoven's Symphony of Fun. He was dubious but I dished up our dinner and pressed play.
Malcom was amazed at how Bekah sat happily on the couch while we ate. We were at the TABLE, TOGETHER for the first time in months. She bopped along to the music and we ate dinner in peace!
He hadn't realized that the show was just music and views of toys. So simple and yet the company has made so much money. "That's why it's called Baby Einstein," he said. "Not that the babies get smart, but the person who made it is a genius!"
We spent our calm 15 minutes talking a little and watching Rebekah--she giggled, danced, pointed at the babies, hugged the TV screen, and even tried to show her toys to the puppets.
Thanks for the nice dinner and show, Baby Einstein.

LOL!!!! Malcom is right - the person who created these Baby Einstien videos is sitting somewhere on her/his mountain of cash and the economy isn't hurting her/him at all. Why can't I come up with something so brilliant? Oh yeah - I am not a genius.
