As I've mentioned before, Malcom and I have decided to purchase a house. Well, a condo actually, but it's the same thing to us. We have a LITTLE money in savings for a down payment and the market is great for buyers, so we decided to jump in. We are really looking forward to paying a mortgage instead of rent every month, and building equity to help us get a "real" house in the future.
Part 1:
Last week we visited with our mortgage broker and started the paperwork for getting pre-approved for a loan. It was exciting to sit down and talk real numbers. She took down ALL our information and gave us a price range she thought we'd most likely qualify for. Then she sent us home and told us she'd let us know the results this week.
Part 2:
We got our pre-approval today and things look great! We went out with our realtor today and viewed three properties. One of them looks really good, but we're definitely not sold on anything yet. It was good to look at properties and think we could actually live there. We'll be hunting around a lot more, hoping to find the most bang for our buck. I know that no place will match 100% of our criteria, but we'll get as close as we can and settle in. This is really fun!

OH, I'm so excited for you! I LOVED getting out of an apartment into a house of our own. It makes it so much easier to feel you can make the house yours, to make it home. Good luck!
Huzzah!! Take lots of pictures if you find one you like and email them to me! I have decorating plans a-brewing in my mind, but I need to see the space so I can visualize in more concrete terms :)
Also, what are the colors that you absolutely could NOT live with?
Yeah!!!! I am excited that you got the loan and you are on your way to being homeowners. I knew when I stepped in to the first home we bought that it was the house for us. You will know when it is right for you as well. Hugs!!!
I am so excited for you! I feel like shopping for a new house since we had the sewer flood.
Can't wait to see what you get!
So much fun! And Stress! Take your time, don't feel rushed, and enjoy the ride!
