Smashing Success

Malcom's birthday was on Sunday and it went really well. We actually celebrated the whole weekend long.

On Friday, we enjoyed dinner as a family at Black Angus. It's usually expensive, but we found a great coupon and let Bekah mooch off our plates instead of buying her a kid's meal. Not too expensive, the conversation was good, and Rebekah was really well behaved. Yay!

On Saturday night, we got a babysitter and went to a movie. Malcom had wanted to see Inglorious Bastards with some friends, but none of them could make it. Instead of making him go ALONE, or not go at all, I went with him. Yes, I watched that movie. I have to say that while I don't really "recommend it," it was really well done, with superb acting and great suspense. If you are squeamish in any way about violence, this is not the movie for you. I covered my eyes for a lot of the killing scenes. But honestly, in the name of helping Malcom have a happy birthday, I don't regret seeing it.

Sunday was his actual birthday. I made him a yummy breakfast (blueberry coffee cake, Canadian bacon, and orange juice) and let him open his presents. He really enjoyed them! Then off to church, then naps, etc. In the evening, we had a ton of friends over for cake and ice cream. The cake, in all its wreckiness, was very tasty and everyone enjoyed it. The house was FULL and every lingered for a good, long time. It was perfect.

(Honestly, it does say 'Birthday' but the stupid squeeze frosting came out too fast on the r and it only looks like an s. I do know how to spell, people!)
