Yes, the fires are rather close to us, but not close enough to be 'dangerous'. The air is rather smoky but at least the wind is blowing it away from us (for now).
Stepping out our front door you can see the fires north of Burbank (around the Mt. Wilson area). Pardon the poor pictures; long exposures + hand held camera = blurred photos.

They were bad on Saturday but I heard they got really bad last night, and there were two firefighters killed in an accident? Good luck with the air! When we were flying we could see the smoke, we were right above it, and it was actually in the air all the way to Phoenix.
It is also in the air all the way to Salt Lake City. They look very close to you in the pics.
