After a second consecutive month of being charged extra for minute overages on our cell phone plan, we're ready to switch. It's both our fault, more mine than Malcom's. We have been talking too much and we're going over our 700 minutes. Getting up to 1000 minutes with Verizon would be over $100 for both of us and that's a lot. But switching means we have to leave Verizon and we've loved their coverage. We've got this horrible suspicion that all other providers out there suck. Help us!
Who is your cell phone provider? Do you like them? Which providers are the worst? We need your expert wisdom and advice.
Thanks. :)

I have Sprint. I've been with them for at least 10 years. I've been happy with them. I liked them better before they merged with Nextel and when you didn't have to sign a 2 year contract. When I did have a complaint (which has been rare) they'd work with me to resolve the problem. For about $45 I get 450 minutes, Unlimited minutes on Nights (starts 7pm) and Weekends, and Unlimited minutes on Sprint to Sprint phone calls. I've had good coverage, even in podunk areas of Iowa, Indiana and Illinois.
In case you don't know, this is Luther.
Mark and I have Alltel. We stay with them because we get so many darn extra minutes for free.
1) You get a Circle of 5, 10, or 20 depending on your minutes of use (the cheapest rate you get 5). The five most frequently used numbers are 100% free (you have to enter them in online).
2) All mobile to mobile are free. All of Alltel. So don't use these as your Circle! BTW Verizon and Alltel are merging in the next year, so all those numbers will be free eventually I am predicting.
3) I haven't checked lately ,but they give us our home number free to call. Of course, that was before the circle thing. But I bet if you ask for it it is still in effect. So that's not one of your circle either.
4) Weekends and Evenings after 9 are unlimited. for 5 or 7 dollars more you can have them start at 7. I haven't done that, didn't see a need for me.
Right now, we are paying 89 (that's with taxes and everything, insurance etc. ) I think it's 59.99 for the plan (1250 minutes) 9.99 for the second line, and 10 for insurance (5 for each line) 3 for roadside assistance for me, and 7 for 400 texts for me (plus unlimited texts to my circle). With this plan I have a circle of 10. I had to work hard to get 10 numbers for this that I call often that aren't already covered with the mobile to mobile. Mark and I use an average of 3500 minutes but haven't gone "over" because only 600 or 700 are into numbers we don't call all the time.
I have had T-Mobile for about 8 years and have always loved it! The rates seem competitive and the service is pretty good. There are a couple of places where we don't get service that other people do and vice-versa. And, their customer service is great. They really take care of us by reversing excess fees and changing our plan etc. Good luck in your search!
at&t. we have great coverage and you can get an iphone which we love. with the iphone you have internet everywhere with no charges for use. i check my email wherever i am.
