We are in the market for some new cell phones. We just passed out 2-year mark with Verizon and they're "giving" us $50 to spend on phones. Plus, we just discovered we get a sweet discount with them because I work for LAUSD, so we'll save quite a bit of money off the retail price of the phones.
My question is what do you really like about your phone that you highly recommend to others? I don't necessarily mean the exact make and model, although if you want to say you love your WHOLE phone, that's okay too. I'm looking specifically for features that you think are indispensable on a phone that will help me make my decision. There are just so many phones to choose from and I don't even know how to begin narrowing it down.
On the other hand, if there are things you truly HATE about your phones, please let me know that too. I'd hate to repeat your mistake if I can avoid it.
Thanks!

Cell Phones are so unique to your usage it's sorta hard to explain which would be best, so I'll keep it generic.
Do you care about an MP3 player? Mine has it, but I have an iPod so that doesn't attract me (though I have heard some new ones play AAC).
Do you do much text messaging, and if you do do you like T9 or need a keyboard? Mark got a LG Scoop Bar Phone (Alltel) that slides out a keyboard from the bottom, but I almost prefer T9 now, so I have a flip phone.
So my worst phone was a Nokia, I had some Motorola's but they were hit or miss, really great or really crappy, but I haven't had too much negative with the LG's. Samsung phone I didn't really like.
I don't know if I hurt or helped, but good luck either way :)
Something with a full keyboard is nice, and something that also is easy to clean. And has a lock feature because I am sure Becca is going to want to play with it.
I think when buying a cell phone it depends on what you use it for, how often you use it, and who can get access to it. If you are more accident prone, look for something that can stand up to the worst, if you are gentle on things, buy something dainty you can fit in your pocket. I lean toward samsung, blackberry and Microsoft phones. I would really try and stay away from Nokia phones.
I think the small phones are cute and dainty for women, but really hard to deal with as moms, also anything that flips is trouble, you drop them, they break in two. Give them to a baby to play with, they break in two. Pretty much get my drift?
Personally, I would say, buy something that isn't too expensive, durable, and has the features you absolutely need.
Hope that helps and good luck phone hunting!
I agree w/ Taylor. The flip phones break SOOOOOO easily.
On a side note: Jason swears that the BEST prices in the universe are at Letstalk.com He got us the most amazing deal there. And we're pretty sure they sell just the phones, too (as opposed to phones w/ service plans).
I just got the new ENV2 from LG and it's awesome! The feature I love the best is keyboard for texting. It has music but I also have my ipod so I don't use that. I think I love it because it's so easy to text with and it was a mail in rebate for $50 off. But Jared has a centro palm and he really likes it for the calendaring. He needs it because he's so disorganized. You are welcome to play with my phone at church and try it out before you get it. I have it with me all the time.
