Spooky Night, Lame Night, Good Night

I was excited all day. I was really looking forward to Halloween Night to put on our costumes and go to the ward Trunk-or-Treat party.

Bekah and I mostly lounged all day, which was fine with me. She wass doing some fierce teething, so she wasn't really up for much except being held by Mommy. While she was down for her second nap, I got our food stuffs together, packed the diaper bag, and got myself ready.

To get the effect of the grandmother from Little Red Riding Hood, I had purchased an ugly nightgown from Goodwill. I stuffed myself with a pillow, donned my grey wig, and worked on my makeup. After I found some examples online, I was able to make myself look OLD. It was honestly spooky how old I looked, especially when I didn't smile. Malcom said it was the least attractive I'd ever looked. :D

I woke Malcom and he got himself ready while I worked on the focal point of our evening, little Rebekah. Without her, we would've been just and old lady and a woodsman. We gathered all our things and headed to pick up our pizzas on our way to the party.

And after all that build up. . .

. . . we were the 5th car there.

LAME.

We waited in the parking lot for a few more people, then decided it was no use hiding any longer. Inside, there weren't enough people to make it a party, just a sad attempt at a gathering. No table decorations, no music, just older ward members eating pizza and talking quietly about the economy. Yikes. We took pictures to kill time before eating.

Finally more people came and we were able to enjoy our Halloween evening a bit more with all our friends around. Of course, ours was not the only cute baby:
Zaphren as Sleeping Beauty

Elise as a witch in training

Zachary as a puppy

We took Bekah around the parking lot for candy (for us, not her, of course!). We left before she got too cranky. So now we're back at home, I'm in my PJ's and out of the hot pillow, hair and makeup. We're watching the quintessential Halloween movie, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and eating our favorites out of Bekah's basket. It has turned out to be a good evening, despite the lame party.

That has got to be the cutest Little Red Riding Hood I have ever seen. The old lady make-up is goood.

Thanks for posting a pic of my cutie pie. I only took 3 pictures of her that night. Oh well, there's always next year right?
